This book is bee-utiful!
– Third Grader
One of my all-time favorite picture books is Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts. One of my all-time favorite chapter books is Stella Díaz Has Something to Say by Angela Dominguez. When I found out that Maribeth Boelts and Angela Dominguez were partnering on a new picture book called Kaia and the Bees, I knew my students would be excited about this new title.
Kaia and the Bees was just released on Tuesday, March 10th, and we celebrated by reading it aloud in our third grade classroom. My students loved Angela Dominguez’s lovely illustrations, and they loved following Kaia’s journey as she learns to appreciate bees. This book makes a great read aloud for pollinator units or units on character change. Of course, thanks to Maribeth Boelts’ riveting writing, it also makes a great read aloud just for fun.

Kids Say…
- “You should keep nature the way it is. If you don’t, you may not be able to live the life we’re having now.”
- “Take chances! She didn’t give up!
- “Try to conquer your fears! Your fear can become amazing or fun.”
- “Don’t let feat stop you from doing something.”
Happy reading! 📚
