A Big Bed for Little Snow by Grace Lin

Reading this book to my students in Phnom Penh meant that many of them had never experienced long, cold winter nights, but they could all relate to the temptation Little Snow felt when the bed was so “puffy and big and bouncy.” Kids who are stuck at home right now may get ideas! This is the perfect book to bring you to another world.

The gorgeous illustrations immediately drew them in. The text is playful too and students noticed punctuation used to build suspense (… and !). Font size and word placement also added to the movement through the story.

Grace Lin has a YouTube channel where you can hear her read aloud and share some drawing tips.

She also has a podcast where kids can hear her answering a question from her listeners and kids are encouraged to submit questions.
