As students, teachers, and families navigate learning from home, many authors are stepping in to keep the book love going. Authors are offering livestreams of read alouds for the duration of school closures. Here are some of this week’s offerings:
Daily
- From April 13th to April 17th, Jason Reynolds will be reading Look Both Ways live on Instagram at 10:30 a.m. EDT each day.
- At 2 p.m. EDT each weekday until schools reopen, Dan Gutman will be reading from his My Weird School series live on Facebook.
- Every day at 3 p.m. EDT, Mac Barnett is reading picture books live on his Instagram page. At 8 p.m. EDT each day, he reads from his chapter books.
Weekly
- On Thursdays at 7 p.m. EDT, Dolly Parton reads books from her Imagination Library live on Facebook. Find more information here.
- On Fridays at Noon EDT, Peter H. Reynolds will be reading aloud on his Facebook page. Peter is the author and illustrator of books including The Dot, Ish, and The Word Collector.
More and more authors are stepping in to offer these live read alouds. At the link below, I am keeping a running list (updated daily) of livestreams available for students. I hope it is useful for teachers and families as we all navigate these unprecedented times.
