
Who isn’t feeling a little extra stress these days? Whether you are a student, parent or teacher, back to school in 2020 has brought challenges we’ve never experienced. All of this can lead to some really difficult situations and some seriously stressed little (and big) people.
Calm Ninja to the rescue. This quick read is perfect for reminding us all to take time out for ourselves. Through a simple story line we learn some easy (and some not-so-easy) yoga poses and breathing techniques to calm the mind and body.
While I am not a fan of reading aloud to a students through a computer screen, I am thankful that I was able to share this book with a great group of first graders. Some kids even found a little space at home to try out a few poses as we read.
They shared different things they like to do to calm themselves down including building with Lego, doing splits, coloring, and petting an animal. We decided that it’d be great to take pictures of us doing these things along with us practicing some of these yoga poses to create a poster to remind us of things to try when we need them.
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that life gets tough sometimes. It’s these times we need to channel the Calm Ninja inside each of us and “Just Breathe.”
