The minute I put books from the Explore the World series out in the classroom library, the kids grab them and start reading. These texts keep getting passed around the classroom, and I love that many titles are easy to read.
These books are also my students’ favorite go-to mentor texts. Today, a child created a pop-out diagram for her book just like the one titled, All About Deer.
Another student figured out the difference between a glossary and an index by studying this page. Then he taught his reading partner. Tomorrow, they are setting off to create glossaries and indexes for the books they are writing.
