The minute I put books from the Explore the World series out in the classroom library, the kids grab them and start reading. These texts keep getting passed around the classroom, and I love that many titles are easy to read.
These books are also my students’ favorite go-to mentor texts. Today, a child created a pop-out diagram for her book just like the one titled, All About Deer.
Another student figured out the difference between a glossary and an index by studying this page. Then he taught his reading partner. Tomorrow, they are setting off to create glossaries and indexes for the books they are writing.
The high-interest topics, the clear and engaging text features, and the varied text complexity make the Explore the World books my new go-to nonfiction series. Thanks, Pioneer Valley. Your books are helping so many kids read joyfully.
